Celeste (Hoewisch) Ratka is in her third year as the video coordinator for Fighting Illini women's basketball. She arranges the videotaping of all Illinois games and practices, coordinates film exchange and begins the scouting process for the Illini coaching staff.
Ratka was one of the top players in Green Bay's illustrious history, earning the Horizon League co-Player of the Year and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 while also earning honorable mention honors on the State Farm All-America team that season. The Horizon League Tournament MVP scored 14 points in Green Bay's 66-56 victory over Michigan State in the second round of the 2011 NCAA tournament, earning the Phoenix a berth in the Sweet 16. She then scored 20 points and made four three-pointers in the regional semifinal vs. Baylor. Green Bay made the tournament three of the four years Hoewisch played.
Ratka finished her career on top of the school history list in games played (132) and was named first team All-Horizon League in both 2010 and 2011 after earning second-team all-conference as a redshirt sophomore in 2009. She ranks fifth in career three-pointers made with 130, fifth in career steals (280) and seventh in career assists (375) in school history. Her 86 steals in 2010-11 are fifth on the Phoenix single-season steals list while her 59 three-pointers that year are seventh best in a season at the school.
A native of Hortonville, Wis., Ratka graduated from Green Bay in 2011 with a degree in human biology with a health science emphasis. She earned the Chancellor's Leadership medallion in the spring of 2011, was named a NACDA Division I-AAA Scholar Athlete in both 2010 and 2011 and garnered first team Academic All-Horizon League accolades in 2011. She earned a master's degree from the University of Concordia in Irvine in coaching and athletic administration in 2014.
