Jimmy Price spent nine years as the strength and conditioning coach for Illinois men's and women's basketball. As a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Price is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and has trained and worked with numerous professional athletes over the last decade, many of whom are still in the NBA and NFL. A frequent speaker and performance clinics and in the community, Price is dedicated to the mission of implementing individualized sports training programs for each athlete.
At Illinois, Price oversaw every aspect of the sports performance program to include strength and conditioning, speed, agility, quickness and flexibility. Another key ingredient to maximizing each athlete's potential is sports nutrition. All players worked closely with the athletic department's sports nutritionist to formulate an individualized plan to maximize their athletic development.
Prior to joining the staff at Illinois, Price served as an assistant strength coach and sports performance nutritionist at Texas Tech University, where he spent four years working with the football, men's and women's tennis and track and field teams. His last two years at Texas Tech, Price worked directly with the men's basketball program under Coach Bob Knight.
Price earned a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech in the area of exercise physiology and sports biomechanics. A native of Texas, Price also is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he was the director of physical training and nutrition advisor.
