The Meet
Six Illini men's track and field athletes in five events will head to Eugene, Oregon, for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships from June 11-14 at Hayward Stadium. The Orange and Blue will be represented in sprints, hurdles, middle distance and the 4x400m relay team.

The Illini will be represented in the 400m by DJ Zahn. At the NCAA West Prelims, Zahn finished seventh overall with a time of 45.82, his second-fastest time of the season. Zahn clocked the fifth-fastest 400m time in school history on day one of the prelims, crossing the finish line in 45.69. The junior also finished runner-up at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships in the event and was a member of the second-place 4x400m relay team that will also be competing in Eugene. Last year, Zahn was a member of the 4x400m relay team that captured All-America honors.

Cam Viney qualified for the national meet in the 400m hurdles. Viney clocked a 400m hurdles time of 50.75 at the NCAA West Prelims to advance to Eugene. The sophomore finished runner-up at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships, and took third at the Drake Relays after clocking the fourth-fastest time in school history. Viney was also member of last year's All-American 4x400m relay team.

Joe McAsey will make his first-ever trip to the NCAA Championships and compete in the 800m. McAsey qualified for the national meet after placing third in his heat at the NCAA West Prelims. The sophomore won his first Big Ten title in the event after clocking a 1:47.73, the ninth-fastest time in school history.

Brandon Stryganek qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 200m after finishing sixth at the NCAA West Prelims with a personal-best time of 20.66, the second-fastest time in school history. The junior placed seventh in the event at the Big Ten Championships.

The 4x400m relay squad finished fourth at the NCAA West Prelims in a time of 3:05.14. Zahn and McAsey will join Stephon Pamilton and Kenneth Allen in the event at the national meet.

Coverage
ESPN3 will cover the first two days of competition, beginning at 5:55 p.m. CT on both Wednesday and Thursday. Friday and Saturday's events will be televised live on ESPNU beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT on Friday and 1:00 p.m. CT on Saturday.
