The Meet
The University of Illinois men's track and field team earned 20 bids to the NCAA West Preliminary Round of Championship on May 29-31. The event, held at John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville, Arkansas, will feature 17 individual Illini, as well as two relay teams. For the fifth straight season, the country has been split into two regions, East and West. The East Preliminary Rounds will be held at the same time in Jacksonville, Fla.

Each preliminary round site will host the top 48 declared athletes -- or 24 relay teams -- in each event, with the exception of the decathlon. The preliminary round will serve as the first two rounds of competition for the NCAA championships, narrowing the field in each event to 12 from each region.

The top 12 performers from each preliminary round site will then advance to compete at the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon, from June 11-14.
