INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Declarations for the NCAA Preliminary Track and Field Championships have been announced by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee. Illinois will compete in the west region and has earned a total of 20 entries into the meet, set to take place in Fayetteville, Arkansas on May 29-31.

The Illini earned 20 bids from 17 individual athletes, as well as both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Two-time Big Ten champion Vanier Joseph earned the highest seed for the Illini at No. 3 and looks to remain undefeated in the 110m hurdles this season. After winning his first conference championship last weekend, Joe McAsey grabbed the No. 5 spot in the 800m. Four-time Big Ten champion Stephon Pamilton has earned a No. 9 spot in the 400m, while DJ Zahn comes in at No. 10 in the event. Cam Viney finished runner-up in the 400m hurdles at last weekend's Big Ten Championships and takes the No. 6 spot in the event, while both relay teams earned top-five seeds.

The 10,000m will feature two Illini as both Jannis Toepfer and Jordan Hebert qualified for the Preliminary Round, while David Kendziera will represent the Illini in two individual events as he earned spots in both the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles. Liam Markham (1,500m) and Ian Barnett (5,000m) will compete at the Preliminary Round after scoring points at the Big Ten Championships last weekend, while sprinters Brandon Stryganek (100m) and Julian Smith (200m) look to advance to the NCAA Championships as both individuals and members of the 4x100m relay.

The Orange and Blue will have five athletes competing in the field events at the NCAA West Preliminary Round, including recent Big Ten point scorers Brandon Noe (discus) and Branden Tanthavong (triple jump), along with Cody Klein (pole vault), Davis Fraker (hammer throw) and Ben Dodds (javelin).

The top-12 finishers in each event will advance to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon on June 11-14.
