Iowa Dual Schedule of Events and Heat Sheets
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Illinois men's track and field team kicks off the indoor season with a dual meet against the University of Iowa on Saturday, Jan. 8, with the field events beginning at noon and the running events at 1 p.m. The meet will be held at the University of Illinois Armory and will be free to the public. A full schedule of events and heat sheets can be found in the PDF above.
"This dual is a great opening meet for us against a conference rival," interim head coach Mike Turk said. "We should have some pretty good performances this weekend, and several guys are chomping at the bit to get things started."
This meet has become an annual rivalry between the Illini and Hawkeyes. Last season, Iowa edged Illinois by a single point (80.5 to 79.5) in a meet that came down to the final event. Illinois will have 40 athletes competing, with eight freshmen set to make their Illini debut. National champion Andrew Riley is not slated to compete.
The Illini men will be in action every Saturday in January at the UI Armory, as they also host the Illini Open (Jan. 15), the Illini Classic (Jan. 21-22) and the Illinois Intercollegiate (Jan. 29).
