Walnut, Calif. -- The Illinois men's track and field team wrapped up competition at the Mt. SAC Relays with many setting personal bests during the two day event. Four Illini distance runners set lifetime bests in their events including one which cracked the top-10 in school history.

"Hunter and Jim ran a very controlled race," assistant coach Jake Stewart said. "The objective of the night was to get a qualifying time for the NCAA regional meet in May and they met that objective. Walking away from the race they both felt like there was more in the tank which sets them up nicely for the final weeks of the season. Jordan had a huge personal best. He did a lot of work in the race. I am very proud of what Jordan's done these last several weeks."

Senior Hunter Mickow shined in the 10,000m on Thursday night as he clocked the eighth-fastest time in Illinois history (29:20.45) in the event. Mickow finished sixth overall in the invite elite section and becomes the first Illini to crack the school's top-10 list since his brother Colin Mickow achieved the feat in 2010. Senior Jim Riddle also set a personal best time in the 10K as he finished 11th overall with a time of 29:28.41 which is just outside the school's top-10 list.

Junior Jordan Hebert posted a top-10 finish in the Olympic development elite 10,000m race, placing ninth with a career-best time of 29:46.79. Also running a lifetime best was freshman Luke Carroll in the 1,500m. Carroll finished seventh in his heat and 10th overall in a field of 131 athletes with a time of 3:46.67. The time ranks just outside the school's top-10 list.

"Luke ran a seasonal personal best," Stewart said. "There are aspects of Luke's race we'll continue to work on, as we still look for a complete race for him. When Luke puts all his phases together, I have no doubt he's going to have a big breakthrough."

In the 3,000m steeplechase, senior Jannis Topfer finished 10th with a time of 8:59.48 in the invitational elite section while freshman Sam Telfer finished 14th in the open section with a time of 9:21.65.
