Adam Bray comes to the University of Illinois after previously serving as a volunteer assistant at the University of Maryland and the University of Akron. At Maryland, his main focus was the men's and women's cross country and track and field middle-distance and distance runners.

Bray was a member of the University of Akron track and field and cross country teams from 2000-2005 where he was a four-year letterwinner and captain.

He spent a year as the graduate assistant for the Zips during the 2005-2006 seasons. During that time, the Zips won the Mid-American Conference cross country, indoor and outdoor track team titles. He also worked as an academic counselor in the athletic department at Kent State during the 2006-07 season.

Bray graduated from the University of Akron in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in education, and went on to receive his master's degree from Akron in sports science in 2006. Originally from Ohio, he currently resides in Urbana, Ill.
