McClennan Once Again Top Illini Finisher - 10/18/98

The University of Illinois men's cross country team finished ninth of 11 teams at the University of Michigan Interregional this morning on the campus of the University of Michigan. Michigan won the meet with a total of 34 points and was followed by James Madison University (71) and Washington University (106). Illinois finished with a total of 194 points.

Illini junior Scott McClennan paced the men for the third time in four races this season, placing 17th overall in a time of 25:49 over the 8K course. McClennan was followed by Jon Russell (36th/26:23), Jason VanSwol (46th/26:35), and Ryan Eason (51st/26:42). The Illini top five was rounded out by Mike Lucchesi, who was 53rd in a time of 26:44.

Illinois takes next week off before returning to the University of Michigan campus for the Big Ten Championships, November 1.
