Jason Bill Runs At NCAA Championships
Nov. 22, 2004
Illinois junior Jason Bill placed 76th in the men's NCAA cross country championships today in Terre Haute, Ind. Bill ran the 10K course in 32:22, despite suffering through a painful side stitch injury that has plagued him at the end of each of the last two seasons. This was Bill's second appearance at the Championships; as a freshman in 2002, Bill finished 155th.
"Jason suffered the side stitch early in the race," head coach Paul Pilkington said. "When you're affected by that, you can't run very fast. Despite the injury, I thought he held up quite well, I just wish we could have gotten that resolved."
"Obviously Jason was frustrated," Pilkington said, "Watching the race unfold it was frustrating. Jason had beaten many of the runners in the top pack of 15 at Pre-Nationals and he knows he can be up there and run with them, today he just wasn't able to be."
