CHICAGO -- The Big Ten Network will offer its most extensive wrestling schedule ever, with a total of 53 events on television or online, including a record number 44 matches being streamed live online. Illinois will be featured four times, with the Iowa dual at home and the dual at Minnesota being aired live on the Big Ten Network and the other two duals being streamed live on BigTenNetwork.com. Illinois will host the Big Ten Championships for the first time in 12 years, with it being covered live on Sunday, March 10.
Thirty-nine of the 53 total events will be conference matches, all being available live. The regular-season schedule begins No. 10 as Purdue hosts Old Dominion. Other non-conference highlights include Penn State hosting Lehigh on Friday, Nov. 16 and Iowa hosting Edinboro on Saturday, Feb. 16. The network will also televise live the final session of the 50th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Sunday, Dec. 30.
Last season, Penn State captured its second-straight national championship, and was one of eight Big Ten wrestling programs to finish in the top 25. The Nittany Lions were joined by No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Iowa, No. 7 Illinois, No. 9 Northwestern, No. 11 Michigan and No. 21 Nebraska.
The Big Ten Network is available to approximately 80 million homes in the United States and Canada.
