Illini sophomore Jordan Blanton took fourth in the 84 KG / 185 lbs bracket at the Fila Junior Freestyle World Team Trials, and teammate Conrad Polz took fourth in 74 KG / 163 lbs.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore Jordan Blanton and redshirt-freshman Conrad Polz each took fourth place at the Fila Junior Freestyle World Team Trials over the weekend, with Blanton competing in the 84 KG / 185 lbs bracket and Polz in the 74 KG / 163 lbs tournament. Both wrestlers went 2-2 in their respective brackets.
Blanton started his tournament by breezing past Brent Haynes of Missouri and Sunkist Kids, 3-0, 5-0, before dropping a 1-0, 1-0, nail-biter to Quentin Wright of Penn State and Team Wright. Blanton then went into the consolation bracket, where he pinned Joe LeBlanc of Wyoming in the second period to advance to the third-place bout. In that match, he dropped a 7-0, 8-1 technical fall to Dustin Kilgore of Kent State and Golden Pride, taking fourth place.
In the 74 KG / 163 lbs bracket, Polz stumbled in his first match against Alec Ortiz of Oregon and Cobra All Stars, 2-2, 0-3, 4-3, but responded with an 0-1, 1-0, 3-0 win over Sean Bilodeau of Lehigh and Lehigh Valley Athletic Club in his first consolation match. Polz then dispatched Josh Condon of Chattanooga and Sunkist Kids, 1-0, 2-2, 1-0, before falling in his third-place match to Josh Asper of Maryland and the Terrapin Wrestling Club, 0-2, 2-1, 1-0, to take fourth place.
