Head coach Mark Johnson and wrestlers will host the 2002 Big Ten Championships this weekend at Assembly Hall.

The Big Ten Conference released the seeds for the 2002 Championships, which are set to be held March 9-10 at the Assembly Hall in Champaign, Ill. Each of the Big Ten coaches vote to determine the top seeds in the tournament and brackets will be drawn following a meeting on Fri., March 8.
Minnesota, ranked No. 1 in the nation, has three wrestlers seeded No. 1 in their respective weight class in Leroy Vega (125), Ryan Lewis (133) and Luke Becker (157). Second-ranked Michigan and third-ranked Iowa each have two No. 1 seeds announced in Otto Olsen (174) and Andy Hrovat (184) and Mike Zadik (149) for the Wolverines and true-freshman Steve Mocco (Hwt) for the Hawkeyes. Host-Illinois garnered a one-seed at 165 pounds in junior All-American Matt Lackey, while Penn State's Scott Moore received the top seed at 141 pounds. 197-pounder Nick Preston from Ohio State rounds out the list. Michigan's Olsen and Minnesota's Jared Lawrence (149) and Garrett Lowney (Hwt) are the only returning Big Ten Champions from the 2001 event.
The Championships are set to start at Noon CT with the first session on Sat., March 9, followed by Session II at 7 p.m.
