• Freshman Jesse Delgado begins his first season as an Illini recording an impressive 22-3 record, including a victory over No. 1 ranked 125-pounder Matt McDonough of Iowa in an 11-7 OT decision. Delgado owns seven technical falls on the season. He leads the team in the category. Delgado is ranked in the top-five by the three major rankings, No. 5 by Intermat, No. 4 by W.I.N. Magazine and No. 5 by Amateur Wrestling News.

• Junior B.J. Futrell is 19-3 and is undefeated in the new year going 5-0 in 2012. He has pinned nine of his opponents en route to setting a career-best in falls and leads the squad in the category. His pins also tie Tony Dallago's pins record from last season, equaling the ninth-most pins in a season in school history. Futrell is ranked No. 5 nationally by Intermat, W.I.N. Magazine and Amateur Wrestling News.

• Senior Eric Terrazas is having an record setting senior season, owning a 17-5 record this season. He was named the Big Ten Co-Wrestler of the Week on Jan. 11 after dominating at 149 pounds and led the Illini to a 3-0 record against Purdue, Lock Haven and then No. 8 Michigan. Terrazas beat two top-10 opponents in one weekend, the first of his career.

• Junior Conrad Polz has made a giant impact for the Illini after returning from an injury which sidelined him for over two months. Besides the injury default, Polz is undefeated this season, owning a 13-1 record. Polz immediately jumped back into the rankings, appearing as high at No. 10 by Intermat, a new career-best. The junior defeated his second ranked opponent this year as he moved past No. 6 Cody Yohn of Minnesota with a 4-2 decision.

Northwestern is 32-41-2 all-time against Illinois with the Illini having won 12 of the last 15 duals between the two squads, dating back to the 1996-97 season. The Orange and Blue have won three of the last five duals and seven of the last 10 against NU. The Wildcats defeated Illinois last year, 27-13 in Evanston.

Indiana is 41-43-1 all-time against Illinois but the Illini have won 13 of the last 15 duals between the two teams, dating back to the 1994-95 season. The Illini have won four of the last five duals and nine of the last 10 against the Hoosiers. The Orange and Blue defeated IU last year, 23-11 in Champaign.

125: #5 Jesse Delgado (ILL) vs #9 Levi Mele (NU)
After facing each other at the Midlands about a month ago, Jesse Delgado and Levi Mele will meet again on Friday. Delgado, the top-seeded wrestler at 125, pinned fourth-seeded Mele in 3:44 to give the Wildcat one of his four losses on the year.

#8 ILLINOIS at Indiana
197: #16 Mario Gonzalez (ILL) vs. #3 Matt Powless (IND)
No. 16 Mario Gonzalez faces his fourth top-10 opponent this season in No. 3 Matt Powless. The two have never met, however Gonzalez is used to the tough competition as the redshirt-sophomore took down then No. 3 Sonny Yohn of Minnesota just a few weeks ago.

No. 6 Illinois won seven of 10 bouts, including a pin by No. 5 B.J. Futrell at 133 pounds as the Ilini topped Michigan State 26-13 at Huff Hall. Conrad Polz (165) and Tony Dallago (184) posted clutch wins to keep the Ilini on track for the victory. Pat Walker defeated No. 10 Mike McClure 3-1 in SV1 to give the redshirt-junior the first career victory over a ranked oppoenent.

Friday's dual will serve as "Orange Krush point night," where Orange Krush members can earn a point toward future road trips for men's basketball games.
