Champaign, Ill -- The No. 16 Fighting Illini (7-1) wrestling team beat up on SIU-Edwardsville (2-6) and Missouri Valley (4-8) on Friday night at the Vadakabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Illini beat SIU, 44-3, and finished off Missouri Valley, 44-0.

Illinois received pins from 165-pound Ryan Berger and 184-pound Jason Potter against SIU followed by No. 3 165-pound Matt Lackey, 174-pound Brian Glynn and No. 3 heavyweight John Lockhart recording falls against Missouri Valley.

Along with the two team wins, Friday night was a good evening for current Illini moving up the record charts. With his two wins, Lockhart surpasses former 197-pounder Pat Quirk for seventh in career wins as an Illini with 108. He is two away from tying Jevon Herman (1994-98) and Kevin Puebla (1975-80) for fifth. Lockhart's pin on Friday also tied him for eighth in career pins with 18, one away from seventh place.

157-pound Griff Powell's two victories on Friday send him to 13th on the career wins list with 90. With his two wins, Lackey cracks the top 25 with 65 wins overall.

Illinois is now 13-6-1 against SIU-Edwardsville in their history. This was their first match against Missouri Valley.
