Steve Marianetti is beginning his seventh year as a member of the Fighting Illini wrestling staff.
Marianetti, a U.S. National Champion and 1995 150-pound NCAA champion, was a three-time All-American wrestler for Illinois from 1992-95. He holds the Illini single-season mark for wins with 44 victories during the 1992-92 season and is second on UI’s career wins list with 120.
A former four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Marianetti earned a BS in marketing from Illinois. He completed his master’s degree in advertising in 2001. He was a first-team GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American in 1995 and was a two-time NWCA Academic All-American.
Marianetti resides with him wife Becky and their daughter, Abigal, in Champaign.
