Izmir, TURKEY - University of Illinois sophomore Nathan Vadeboncoeur placed second in his 400m heat at the World University Games in Izmir, Turkey, on Monday. His time of 47.12 qualifies him for the 400m semifinals that will take place Tuesday, Aug. 16.
Cedric Van Branteghem of Belgium beat out Vadeboncoeur in the 400m heat with a time of 46.71.
The Winnipeg, Alberta native looks to build onto his career summer with a successful showing tomorrow in the semifinals. Earlier this summer Vadeboncoeur won the 400m at the Canadian Senior Championships with a personal best of 46.12.
The semifinals are set to take place Tuesday at 1:20 p.m. CT, with the final to be run on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
