Men's Track Wins SIU Invite
Armstrong Earns Provisional Qualification - 3/28/99
The University of Illinois men's track and field team won the Southern Illinois Invitational Saturday. The final team scores were Illinois 194, Indiana State 165.5, Illinois State 152 and Southern Illinois 149.5. The Illini placed first in nine of the 19 events.
Sophomore Sherman Amrstrong provisionally qualified for the NCAA Finals by finishing the 400m intermediate hurdles in 51.18. The standard for provisional qualification is 51.30. Armstrong also won the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 14.07.
