KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Sophomore Dominique Worsley ran a personal-best time in the 100m for the Illini men's track and field team at Tennessee's Sea Ray Relays on Friday, before heavy rains forced most of the meet's events to be postponed until Saturday.
Worsley's wind-aided time of 10.33 seconds placed him 12th overall in an elite field of 50 athletes. The Manchester, N.H. native set the school 60m record in the indoor season (6.72).
None of the men's field events were contested on Friday due to the weather, which will be made up tomorrow with the nine running events that were also postponed. The Sea Ray Relays is scheduled to resume tomorrow beginning at 7:45 a.m.
Before the rain started, junior Yawusa Kinda recorded Illinois' best performance of the season in the 400m, running a personal-best 47.35 and placing seventh. Kinda's performance just missed the NCAA Regional qualifying standard of 47.20. Sophomore Brandon Gray finished 16th in the 400m with a time of 48.08.
Freshman Josh Gist lowered his 110m hurdles time to 14.60 in placing 21st, while sophomore Rob Pykosz won the 3,000m steeplechase open race in a time of 9:29.83.
