Sophomore Jared Hiltzik obtained a career high No. 17 national singles ranking

SKILLMAN, N.J. – With the Illinois men's tennis team's fall season around the corner, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released their 2013 Division I Preseason Rankings today along with their selections for the All-American Championships. The tournament consists of three portions: the main draw, a qualifying round and a pre-qualifying round.
Jared Hiltzik who finished with a No. 32 national ranking after reaching the second round of the NCAA Singles Tournament, starts his sophomore campaign with a career high No. 17 ranking. In addition, the ITA announced Hiltzik to the main draw of the All-American Championships in October. Furthermore, Hiltzik, along with partner Alex Jesse, were tabbed with a No. 56 doubles ranking and named to the qualifying doubles field at the All-American Championships.
Speaking of doubles, juniors Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon also earned a career high ranking this afternoon when they landed the No. 10 spot in the ITA preseason list. Therefore, the duo were named to the main doubles draw at the All-American Championships. Last season the number one Illini doubles tandem secured six victories over top-50 ranked teams. Both Guignon and Kopinski also landed spots in the qualifying singles portion of the October tournament, with the latter achieving a No. 121 ranking.
Finally, Farris Gosea, Brian Page, Julian Childers and Alex Jesse are all slated for the pre qualifying singles field for the tournament. The All-American Championships take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6 in Tulsa, Okla.
