Aug 19, 2013
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Former Illinois men's tennis player turned comedian and T.V. personality Michael Kosta is set to debut on Fox Sports 1's new original sports discussion show Crowd Goes Wild later today. The interactive new show airs weekdays from 4:00-5:00 p.m. CT and will be hosted by Regis Philbin. Other on-air personalties include Wall Street Journal sports columnist Jason Gay, two-time Super Bowl champion Trevor Pryce, Sky Sports news anchor Georgie Thompson and of Guyism.com/youtube fame Katie Nolan.
Kosta played at the University of Illinois from 1998-2002 and was a three-time Big Ten Tournament champion. He accumulated 89 career singles victories with a 30-3 Big Ten record in his four year span in the Orange and Blue.
After trading his racket for a microphone, Kosta'a accolades include appearances on The Tonight Show and Conan, and even performed in his own stand-up special on Comedy Central. Most recently, Kosta returned home to be the special guest speaker for the NCAA Tennis banquet hosted at Memorial Stadium.
"There are sports news shows, debate shows and shows that present a single point-of-view, but Crowd Goes Wild is aiming for a fresh approach," said Executive Producer Michael Davies. "Crowd Goes Wild is going to live in the moment, presenting multiple point of views, with the conversation often influenced by the audience through social interaction. Regis, Jason, Michael, Trevor, Georgie and Katie will embrace the freedom and spontaneity this free-flowing, less staid, format offers and I have no doubt fans will too."
