DECATUR, Ill. - A pair of Illini will meet in semifinal action at the 2012 United States Tennis Association/Ursula Beck Pro Tennis Classic on Saturday morning at the Fairview Park Tennis Center in Decatur, Ill. Soon-to-be senior Stephen Hoh and former Illinois All-American Ryan Rowe each won a quarterfinal match on Friday and will square off tomorrow for a chance to advance to the finale.
Hoh took down Nick Chappell in quarterfinal action, while Rowe put away fourth-seeded Ante Pavic. Hoh's win marks his best run in a pro-level tournament in his career.
"It was a great day for Stephen," associate head coach Marcos Asse said. "He is further in a tournament than he has ever gotten before, and he'll look to continue the success tomorrow. Today was a tough opponent, but Stephen did a great job of staying on task and using his forehand like we've been working on. I'm really excited for tomorrow's match and to see how much Stephen has grown throughout the summer."
Fans are welcome, and admission is free for each match. For more information, including draws, results, directions and schedules, go to the official web site of the Ursula Beck Pro Tennis Classic.
