Jared Hiltzik battles UCLA's Adrien Puget today at 5 p.m. CT in front of the home crowd at the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex

URBANA, Ill. - The field has been set for the NCAA singles and doubles tournament starting this morning. Illini freshman No. 32 Jared Hiltzik will begin his first NCAA singles tournament run at 5 p.m. CT this evening vs. UCLA's No. 22 Adrien Puget. In addition, on Thursday, Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon start their doubles quest vs. four-seed Mac Styslinger and Jarmere Jenkins of Virginia at a time to be determined later tonight.
Hiltzik enters the matchup 7-2 in his last ten and 18-5 overall in dual matches this season. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year is also 3-4 against opponents ranked in the top-25. His opponent, Puget, was a part of the NCAA Team Tournament runner-up squad from UCLA. Puget lost the championship point yesterday in the decisive match, losing to Virginia's Mitchell Frank 6-0, 4-6, 5-7. Puget went 19-5 in dual matches this season.
Meanwhile, the Illini doubles tandem of No. 16 Ross Guignon and Tim Kopinski clash with a Virginia duo fresh off of an NCAA team title. No. 4 Styslinger/Jenkins def. No. 42 Giron/Novikov 8-2 from UCLA to help obtain the doubles point yesterday. However, Thursday's encounter is not the first time the two doubles teams have met this year, as the Illinois pair downed the Cavaliers tandem 8-4 inside Atkins on March 17.
