Day Two Results Get Acrobat Reader

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - The Illinois men's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Olympia Fields Country Club Fighting Illini Invitational in impressive fashion this afternoon, going 8-0 in singles play, including two wins over ranked players.

Sophomore Dennis Nevolo, ranked No. 24 in preseason singles, defeated No. 8 Jean-Yves Aubone of Florida State, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4), before knocking off Notre Dame's Tyler Davis, 6-0, 6-1.

No. 97 senior Marek Czerwinski swept Notre Dame's Michael Moore, 6-3, 6-1, before claiming a thrilling three-set victory over No. 79 Carl Sundberg of Miami (FL), 2-6, 7-5, 6-3 to remain perfect on the weekend.

Junior Connor Roth also remained undefeated, topping David Anderson (ND), 6-2, 6-3 and Daniel Stahl (ND), 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, while fellow junior Abe Souza claimed sweeps over Matt Johnson (ND), 6-3, 7-6 (3) and Spencer Talmadge (ND), 6-2, 6-2.

The invitational concludes tomorrow, with singles play beginning at 9 a.m. and doubles play to follow in the afternoon.
