    NEW YORK - Former Illini Kevin Anderson's career-best run in a Grand Slam came to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon in the third round of the 2010 US Open. The South Africa native, ranked 77th in the world, fell in straight sets to No. 38 Richard Gasquet, 6-4, 7-6 (3), 7-5. Gasquet moves on to face 17th-seeded Gael Monfils in the round of 16.

    In doubles, former Illini Rajeev Ram and teammate Bobby Reynolds take on 12th-seeded Marcel Granollers and Tommy Robredo in second-round action this afternoon, while Anderson and teammate Victor Hanescu withdrew from the tournament.
