BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The ninth ranked Illinois men's tennis team rebounded from its first shutout loss of the season with two flawless Sunday performances. The Illini first shutout Indiana 7-0 in Bloomington to stay undefeated (3-0) in conference platy. Then the Orange and Blue swept Ball State 4-0 in Indianapolis. Today's wins marked the fifth and sixth shutouts of the 2014 season and the 18th consecutive victory over the Cardinals.

Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon displayed no signs of rust after a week of no doubles action. The third ranked doubles team defeated Indiana's Dimitrije Tasic and Sven Lalic 8-3 and Ball State's Ray Leonard and Austin Smith 8-6.

Farris Gosea and Alex Jesse also supplied two doubles wins on the day, as this newly formed team moved to 4-0 on the season. They first earned a hard fought 7-4 tiebreak victory over IU's Daniel Bednarczyk and Sam Monette before rolling to an 8-4 win over Ball State's Patrick Elliot and Andrew Stutz.

In singles vs. the Hoosiers, Gosea, Kopinski, Jesse and Julian Childers all won in straight sets and never surrendered more than three games in a particular set as well. Meanwhile Guignon and Blake Bazarnik gutted out super tiebreak third set victories.

In singles vs. the Cardinals, it was Kopinski, Bazarnik and Childers who wrapped the match early for the Illini. Once again, all three Illinois victories came in straight sets.

Up next, the Illini continue its Big Ten road trip when they head out east to State College, Pa., to take on Penn State on March 28. The Orange and Blue will then cap the weekend with a big time showdown with No. 2 Ohio State on March 30 in Columbus.

"The guys continue to respond to situations. They are focused and excited about more challenges ahead next weekend," said Illinois head coach Brad Dancer. "Coach Zinn is doing a superb job at Penn State so that is the next priority for the team."
