Daniel Ribeiro, the 2012 National Assistant Coach of the Year, is the head coach for the U.S. men's gymnastics team at the Maccabiah Games.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Fighting Illini assistant coach Daniel Ribeiro and and junior-to-be Mike Wilner are set to participate for the United States in the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel. Ribeiro is the men's gymnastics team head coach, and Wilner was named to the seven-member roster.
Wilner, who will be a junior in 2013-14, has competed exclusively on still rings in his two years at Illinois. In 2013, Wilner won seven of the 13 meets on the rings and finished second in the event at the Big Ten Individual Finals.
Ribeiro, an assistant coach under Justin Spring, was the 2012 National Assistant Coach of the Year and Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year. As a gymnast at Illinois, Ribeiro won two national titles on pommel horse and three Big Ten titles on the apparatus.
The Maccabiah Games started on July 17 and run through July 30. The men's gymnastics competition starts on July 23. More than 9,000 athletes from 78 countries are competing at the Maccabiah Games, which take place every four years. More information can be found at Maccabiah.com.
