University of Illinois men's gymnast Leo Oka was named to the CoSIDA/Verizon Academic All-District team for his stellar performances this season in and out of the classroom this season

Oka, a senior, has a cumulative grade point average of 3.65 in Illinois' nationally ranked business administration program. Oka has been named a CoSIDA/Verizon Academic All-District in each of his last two seasons with the Illini as well as being a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.

Outside of the classroom, Oka was an All-American in 2000 following his sixth-place finish in the all-around at last year's NCAA Championships. He placed fourth at the 2001 Big Ten Championships in the all-around, earning All-Big Ten honors and has his Illini squad seeded fourth heading into the 2001 national championships.
