PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Illini senior Adam Pummer claims Big Ten Gymnast of the Week accolades after taking home the all-around title with a 54.450 mark, while leading the Fighting Illini to a new national high team score (220.000) and a win over Army last weekend. Pummer also won the floor exercise (9.500), vault (9.350) and high bar (9.750) titles, tallying season highs in all three events. The Allentown, Pa., native also finished second on parallel bars (9.350) and fourth on rings with a career-high 8.950. It was Pummer's first attempt at all six events this season.
This is the first weekly conference honor for the Allentown, Pa., native and third time an Illini has been recognized this season. Sophomore Wesley Haagensen won the award on March 1, while senior Justin Spring shared the honor with Iowa's Michael Reavis the following week.
