University of Illinois men's gymnast Leo Oka earned Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honors following his performance at the Windy City Invitational last weekend where he won the all-around competition.
Oka, a 2000 All-American, picked up where he left off last season by taking top honors in the all-around with a score of 52.15. He defeated 19 other gymnasts, including teammate Linh Hoang who placed second. He also placed third on vault, fifth on high bar, eighth on floor and 10th on still rings.
Oka also ranks first in the nation in the all-around and will look to improve on his season debut as the No. 2 Illini host No. 7 Minnesota on Sat., Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. in Huff Hall.
