Paul Ruggeri earned his first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor this season.

PARK RIDGE, Ill. - Senior Paul Ruggeri (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville Manlius) was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week announced Monday by the conference office. Ruggeri posted two first-place finishes in helping the fourth-ranked Illini win their second straight Windy City Invitational on Saturday. It is the first such honor of the season for Illinois and seventh of his career.
As a team, the Illini won five of the six events, led by Ruggeri who placed first in the all-around (88.900) and on high bar (15.800) and also finished in second place on floor exercise (15.300) and tied for fifth on vault (15.700).
Illinois will travel to Minneapolis next weekend for a tri-meet against Minnesota and Nebraska on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 7 p.m. CT.
