CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Coming off a season-opening win last weekend, the University of Illinois men's gymnastics team will battle tough Big Ten competition at the Windy City Invitational in Chicago on Saturday. Competition begins at 6 p.m. at UIC's Physical Education Building.

With a record of 1-0, the sixth-ranked Illini will go head-to-head with No. 1 Michigan, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Penn State as well as host Illinois-Chicago, Michigan State and Minnesota.

Looking to lead the Illini are 1999 NCAA Qualifier Leo Oka and 1998 NCAA all-around national champion Travis Romagnoli. Oka won the all-around last week with an overall score of 57.00, while also taking first on pommel horse and still rings. Romagnoli won the high bar with a near-perfect mark of 9.85.

"This meet always gives us a good idea of where we stand nationally," 24th-year head coach Yoshi Hayasaki said. "The Big Ten is always such a tough conference and this year is no different."

The Illini will return to Huff Hall for the home season opener on January 29, to host Michigan State.
