SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The fourth-ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team finished the regular season recording two wins over No. 17 Army 225.30-217.30 and Santa Barbara 225.30-215.20, Thursday night in Santa Barbara.
The Illini conclude the season with a 9-8 record, 4-8 in the conference.
Junior, All-American Travis Romagnoli (Aurora, Ontario) led the squad in the all-around with a first-place mark of 56.05, while Leo Oka (So., Scarborough, Ontario) placed third. Romagnoli also won floor with a 9.70. Oka had the top scores of the meet on high bar and still rings, while junior Linh Hoang (Houston, Texas) won parallel bars with a score of 9.45. Freshman J.G. Ketchen (Knoxville, Tenn.) and senior Kyle Zak (King of Prussia, Pa.) tied for first place on vault with 9.60 scores.
The Illini will train this week for the Big Ten Championships set to begin on Friday, March 26 in Iowa City, Iowa. The meet will combine the top six teams in the country as well as No. 16 Minnesota. Team competition will take place on March 26, followed by individual competition on March 27.
