Illini Post Season-Best Score in UIC Win - 2/14/99

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The sixth-ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team posted a season-best score in Sunday afternoon's 227.00-223.40 win over Illinois-Chicago in Chicago.

With the win, the Illini improve to 4-7, 2-7 in the Big Ten.

Junior, seven-time all-american Travis Romagnoli (Aurora, Ontario) won the all-around, vault, parallel bars and high bar titles, including a season-best 9.90 on the high bar. Sophomore Jonathan Ham (Northridge, Calif.) won the floor exercise with a score of 9.50, while freshman J.G. Ketchen (Knoxville, Tenn.) had a career day taking third on the high bar and fourth on the still rings both with scores of 9.550.

The team had season-best scores on the still rings, parallel bars and high bar which also included a sweep of the top six spots on parallel bars.

The Illini will be back in action on Feb. 20 when they travel to Penn State to take on the top-ranked Nittany Lions. Meet time is set for 7 p.m.
