1999-2000: Tied a personal best of 9.40 on parallel bars and scored a 9.45 on bault and 8.80 on pommel horse at UIC dual. Scored a season-high 9.550 on floor in the Windy City Invite, along with a 9.35 on vault. Finished with 9.35's on vault and floor and a 8.50 on parallel bars against Michigan State.
1998-99: Was seventh in the nation in the final rankings on vault. Placed 40th on vault with a score of 9.150 at the NCAA Championships. Qualified for the NCAA Championships on vault with a 5th-place score of 9.625 at the East Regionals. Made the event finals on vault at the Big Ten Championships and placed second with a score of 9.6875. Turned in a career-high sixth-place mark of 9.50 on floor at Santa Barbara. Won vault for the second time this year with a career mark of 9.750 at meet against California, the defending national champions. Scored a 9.450 on floor and posted a 9.40 on vault against second-ranked Ohio State. Won vault with a 9.65 mark and had a career-best score of 9.050 on rings in home meet against Minnesota. Placed third on vault with a score of 9.350 in dual vs. top-ranked Penn State. Placed sixth on parallel bars with a season-best 9.450 at UIC. Scored a 9.20 on vault and a 9.00 on rings against fourth-ranked Iowa. Placed 20th in the all-around with a mark of 51.40 at the Windy City Invitational. Scored a career high mark on the floor exercise (9.250) at the Windy City.
1997-98: Competed in every meet for the Illini, mainly on the floor, pommel horse, vault, and parallel bars. Had best meet of the season vs. Michigan State, where he set career-highs on the vault (9.15) and parallel bars (9.65). Posted a career-high score of 9.55 on the pommel horse vs. Illinois-Chicago.
High School: Placed 18th at Junior Nationals in '97. Finished 5th in the all-around at the Regional Championships. At the state championships, he placed fourth in the all-around. Member of the California Suns Gymnastics club program. Won the Silver Seal award in high school for academic achievement.
Personal: Majoring in economics. Parents are Satomi and Yosh Nishimoto.
