    2000-01: Finished eighth on NCAA Still Ring Event Finals with a 9.20 ... Qualified for still ring finals with a 9.40 while scoring an 9.10 in the vault preliminaries ... Scored a 9.30 on rings, 9.20 on vault and 8.80 on parallel bars during the NCAA Championships ... Granted All-Big Ten honors in the all-around after finishing fifth with a 52.65 in the Big Ten Championships while also taking fifth on rings and sixth on parallel bars ... Placed second on rings and vault with scores of 9.35 and 9.15, respectively at the Santa Barbara Invitational ... Dominated in the home finale against Iowa by taking first on rings (9.45), second on parallel bars (8.95), third on floor (9.05), fourth on pommel horse (8.90) and fifth on vault (9.00) ...     1999-2000: Posted team's best scores on still rings (9.775) and vault (9.90). Broke an Illinois school record on vault with a 9.90 and a personal best in the all-around with a 56.60 at Ohio State. Placed seventh on vault at Big Tens in the individual event finals, while also taking 10th on pommel horse. Scored a 9.675 on horse to qualify for the conference finals. Nationally ranked on vault (13th) and parallel bars (8th). Won parallel bars with a 9.80 at UIC. Won both rings and vault at Minnesota. Broke a presonal best on floor with a 9.725 against Michigan when he finished first on floor and rings and second on parallel bars. Qualified for the second round of the Winter Cup, with the 24th best score. Finished 26th in the final round of the Winter Cup. Took second in the all-around against Penn State and second on vault and fifth on rings. Placed third on rings against Michigan with a 9.775. Took fifth on vault at Iowa. Finished thrid on rings at the Santa barbara Invitational with a 9.70, while taking second on vault with a 9.75.

    1998-99: Ranked 14th in the nation on vault in the final poll of the year. Finished 18th on pommel horse at the NCAA Championships with a mark of 9.550. Placed fourth on pommel horse with a career-high 9.80 to qualify for NCAA Championships in the event at the East Regionals. Took 12th place in the all-around at the Big Ten Championships, while also scoring a career-high 9.70 on pommel horse for 10th place. Made the Big Ten event finals on vault, placing sixth with a 9.5625. Turned in a first-place score of 9.45 on parallel bars and finished fourth on rings in final regular season meet of the year at Santa Barbara Placed fourth on rings and fifth on parallel bars at California, the defending national champions. Had a pair of second-place finishes on floor (9.70) and vault (9.60) and scored a 9.60 on rings and a 9.55 on parallel bars for season bests against the second-ranked Buckeyes. Placed second on vault with a 9.60 and third on rings with a 9.350 in home meet vs. Minnesota. Placed third in the all-around competition with a season-best 55.675, while also finishing second on vault (9.625) against Iowa. Scored a 9.50 on floor for third place against Michigan and Ohio State. Also finished in the top 10 on vault with a 9.55 at the same meet. Placed third on the parallel bars and fifth on the pommel horse against Michigan St. Scored a 9.60 on vault at the Windy City Invitational. Placed in the top-20 on still rings at the 1999 USA Gymnastics Senior National competition.

    1997-98: Competed in every meet for the Illini. Placed 14th in the all-around and 13th on the pommel horse at the Big Ten Championships. Had stellar performances vs. Michigan State, with career-highs on the pommel horse (9.55), high bar (9.20) and all-around (56.40). Posted the team's fourth-best score of 9.65 on the still rings at the Santa Barbara Invitational. Earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

    1996-97: Sat out true-freshman season.

    High School: USGF state champion in the all-around in 1988 and '91. His regional team won the national championship in '96. Won the national championship on the still rings and placed 12th in the all-around at the USA Junior Championships in '96. Member of the Gym Masters club program Participated in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) from 1990-96.

    Personal: The son of Ly and Mary Anne Hoang. Majoring in consumer and textile marketing.
