CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois head coach Mike Small and current Illini players Jonathan Hauter and Nick Robles are three of seven golfers with Orange and Blue ties in the field of next week's 64th Illinois Open at the Glen Club in Glenview, Ill. The tournament tees off Monday, July 22, at 7:30 a.m. Small and the two current Illini are joined by four former Illinois players in the field: Zach Barlow, Garrett Chaussard, Jonathan Krick and Geoff Lound.

Illini sophomore-to-be Charlie Danielson also will play in the Wisconsin State Amateur July 22-25 at The Bog in Saukville, Wis. He will tee off at 1:42 p.m. on Monday, July 22.

Illinois players and coaches have fared well so far this summer, with Small's fourth-place finish at the PGA Professional National Championship that qualified him for the PGA Championship, leading the way. Assistant coach Justin Fetcho finished tied for 13th at the 83rd Illinois State Amateur July 16-18, finishing 6-over-par after carding a 2-under 70 in the final round. His finish earns an exemption into the 2014 Illinois State Amateur.

Illini senior-to-be Jonathan Hauter finished tied for 17th in the stroke-play portion of the U.S. Amateur Public Links to advance to the 64-man match-play field. But he dropped his first-round match to former Colorado golfer Derek Fribbs, 6 & 5.

Sophomore-to-be Charlie Danielson qualified for the U.S. Amateur by earning medalist honors at the qualifier on July 12 at Victory Links Golf Course in Blaine, Minn., with rounds of 67-75=142. It is the second-straight year that Danielson has qualified for the U.S. Amateur.

Three days later, junior-to-be Brian Campbell shared medalist honors at the Irving, Texas, qualifier with rounds of 71-69=140, to become Illinois' second golfer to reach the U.S. Amateur, where two rounds of stroke play will be contested on Aug. 12-13 at The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., followed by six rounds of match play Aug. 14-18.

On July 13, Thomas Detry took home the 2013 European Challenge Trophy at Kuneticka Hora in the Czech Republic with a final score of 7-under-par, the only player to finish under par. He led his native Belgium to a 17-shot victory over Iceland in the team standings, as the Belgians finished at +25.

On July 11, Campbell finished tied for 16th at -4 at the David Kim finished 52nd at +8.

On July 7, Hauter finished tied for 24th at +4 at the Spirit of America Championship at Burningtree Country Club in Decatur, Ala. On June 22, Campbell finished eighth at the Southwestern Amateur, and Danielson took 33rd at the Sunnehanna Amateur on June 17.

On June 9, Detry finished tied for 12th at +1 at the St. Andrews Links Trophy in Scotland.
