Two Recruits To Join Illinois Men's Golf Team

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois men's golf program has signed two recruits to national letters of intent. Both athletes will be freshmen in the fall of 2000.

Ryan Moore is a native of Danville, Ill. He placed first in the 1999 Danville City & Area Championship. He recorded a sixth-place finish at the 1999 Junior Masters. Moore placed second at the 1998 IHSA State Tournament representing Schlarman High School. He shot a 68 and a 73 to be the runner-up in the 1998 U.S. Junior Qualifying rounds. Moore is a two-time winner of the Vermilion County Schools low stroke average award, and he is also a two-time recipient of Vermilion County Golfer of the Year accolades.

Ryan Tendall is from North Potomac, Md. He finished sixth in the 1999 Maryland State High School Championships and fifth in the 1998 state tournament. Tendall participated in four national tournaments in 1999. He recorded 10th, 12th and 16th place finishes in the three American Junior Golf Association tournaments he participated in. Tendall also finished 70th out of 240 golfers at the Junior Worlds in San Diego. Along with golf, Tendall also played basketball for Wootton High School.
