Men's Golf Inks Two Recruits


April 24, 2001

Head coach Mike Small announced today that two recruits have signed national letters of intent to join the University of Illinois men's golf program. Both athletes will be freshmen in the fall of 2001.

James Lepp hails from Abbotsford, British Columbia where he attends Menonite Educational Institute. He is one of four members of the Canadian World Junior Team. Lepp is a British Columbia Junior Champion and a British Columbia Junior Masters Champion. He has recorded two consecutive Top 10 finishes in the Canadian National Chamionships.

Garrett Chaussard is a senior at Junipero Serra High School and resides in Millbrea, Calif. He was a quarterfinalist in the 2000 U. S. Junior Amateur. Chaussard also finished 19th of 276 participants in the National High School Open Golf Championship.

"These two athletes are standouts on the course who could help us carry our program to the next level," Coach Small said.
