CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host the second annual Illini Jock Jams, a variety act/talent show featuring Fighting Illini athletic teams, on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7:00 p.m. in Huff Hall. Tickets cost $5 with proceeds from the event being donated to local, national and international charities.

This year's event will also feature a silent auction including athletic memorabilia signed by Illinois coaches Ron Zook and Bruce Weber and former Illini Arrelious Benn, Dee Brown and David Diehl. Signed merchandise from the Chicago Bears and Bulls organizations will also be available for bidding during the auction.

Tickets can be purchased in Room 213 of the Irwin Academic Services Center prior to the event as well as at Huff Hall on the night of Illini Jock Jams. The SAAC representatives from each varsity team voted to support Salt and Light (local), the Boys and Girls Club (national) and Student-Athletes Leading Social Change (international) with the proceeds brought in through ticket purchases and donations from the event this year.

Celebrity judges awarded the men's gymnastics team first place during the inaugural Illini Jock Jams after the team and coaching staff performed a dance routine incorporating their acrobatic abilities. Illini Jock Jams 2011 will again feature former Illini athletes as celebrity judges tasked with choosing the best performance, with Juice Williams (football), Ella Masar (soccer), Chester Frazier (basketball), Mike Hoomanawanui (football) and Brit Miller (football) among those set to score each performance.

Student-Athletes Leading Social Change (SALSC) is an organization comprised of student-athletes from across the nation, including the University of Illinois, joining together to make a real difference on a local, national, and international level. SALSC is currently working on an effort in Ecuador to build new schools and improve the ones that they have. For more information on SALSC, log on to www.salsc.org.
