    Illinois graduate Steve Stricker continues to make noise on the world golf scene. Stricker, who placed second in the inaugural FedEx Cup playoff in 2007, opened the 2008 season with a fifth-place showing in the Mercedes-Benz Championship last weekend. That moved Stricker past Jim Furyk to third in the official world golf ranking. Stricker stands behind only Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in the world in the just released updated rankings.
