La Quinta, Calif. - Illinois sits in 13th place following two rounds of play today at The Prestige at PGA West, held at the par 72, 7,156-yard Greg Norman Course. The Illini shot a team score of 304 in round one and then shaved seven strokes off that score with a 297 in round two, good for a two-round total of 601 strokes.
Stanford leads the 15-team event with a score of 569, owning a one-shot lead over UCLA (570). UC-Irvine's Jay Choe, meanwhile, leads the medalist race at -7.
Senior Kyle Hosick is currently tied for 16th place in the 78-player field at 1-over par with a 36-hole score of 145. Hosick shot a 74 in round one and then tied his season-low score with a 1-under 71 in round two. Junior Mark Ogren is tied for 27th, three shots behind Hosick with a 4-over par score of 148. Ogren shot a 75 in round one and added a 73 in round two.
Rounding out the UI lineup, sophomore Andy Shiels is tied for 52nd at 154, while junior Frank Alafoginis and freshman Zach Barlow are tied for 57th at 156.
