Sophomore Mark Ogren shot a career-low round of 69 today during the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic.

Rio Grande, P.R. - The Illini men's golf team shaved 17 strokes off its team score from yesterday during today's second round, carding an even-par 288 to move up to 15th place at the Puerto Rico Classic with a 36-hole total of 593.
The Puerto Rico Classic is being held at the par 72, 6,902-yard River Course at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club. The 18-team tournament features 11 teams ranked in the Top 25, including four of the top five ranked teams. Oklahoma State leads the field after two rounds of play with a score of 563, owning a one-stroke lead over Georgia. Individually, Oklahoma State's Pablo Martin sits atop the leaderboard at 9-under par (135), owning a three-shot lead over Georgia's Chris Kirk (138)
Sophomore Mark Ogren and junior Patrick Nagle played well for the Illini today, each carding 3-under par rounds of 69. This marks the lowest round of Ogren's collegiate career, while it is the 16th time in Nagle's career that he has broken 70. Ogren improves to a tie for 17th place out of the 90-player field with a two-round total of 1-under par 143. Nagle, meanwhile, is tied for 30th at 1-over par with a 36-hole total of 145.
Also scoring for the Illini today were sophomore Danny Zimmerman and junior Kyle Hosick, who each carded 75s. Zimmerman is tied for 67th with a score of 152, while Hosick is one shot behind, tied for 71st at 153. Rounding out the UI lineup, sophomore Andy Mack shot a 77 today and is tied for 78th with a 155.
The third and final round of the 54-hole Puerto Rico Classic will be held tomorrow.
