Burge Named All-America Scholar

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois junior Alex Burge was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Wednesday. To be eligible for the honor, individuals must be juniors or seniors academically, compete in at least three years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 at the Division I level and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better.
Burge recorded a 75.00 stroke average over 17 rounds in 2013-14. His best round was a 5-under-par 67 at the USF Invitational, where he also recorded a season-best 219 (+3) for the tournament. He contributed two counting rounds during the postseason, including a first-round 72 at the NCAA Championships at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kansas.
