More info on Academic Services for Illinois student-athletes

Construction has already begun on the expansion of the Irwin Academic Services Center (drawing, below-left). With the great continued support from the Irwin Family Foundation, this project will assist student-athletes in many academic areas. The $4.6 million expansion of the Irwin Center will more than double the size of the facility, adding 11,400 square feet of space to allow more opportunities for student-athletes to achieve their academic goals. Student resource areas comprised of a presentation room, a new general study area, individual tutoring and study rooms, and a computer lab will allow this all to happen. Student-athletes will have more access to computers; better environments to meet with tutors with less distraction and the opportunity have more space to concentrate on the academic endeavors.

In addition to the areas available at the Academic Services Center, Illini football players are able to take advantage of a study center/computer lab (photo, below-right) adjacent to their academic counselors' offices in the Football Complex, located upstairs from the locker room.
