Illini forced indoors during heavy lightning storm - 8/15/98
An isolated yet severe lightning storm, complete with heavy rain and winds, hit Rantoul this afternoon just as the Fighting Illini were gearing up for the afternoon practice session. Due to the lightning threat, Coach Turner and the staff moved the squad to Grissom Hall for an afternoon of meetings, chalk talks and walk-throughs with the various position groups. The morning session featured more individual drill work and 7-on-7 scrimmages, highlighted by a solid performance by the receivers and a hustling play by safety Bobby Jackson, stripping tight end Mike Craciuniou after a long pass reception. The Illini worked out for two hours under sunny, steamy skies with temperatures quickly rising into the mid-80's.
