    This Is ILLINI Football!

Many of them work in the spacious main training room, which is outfitted with the very latest equipment,

including a computerized Cybex rehabilitation unit, whirlpools, icedowns and electrical stimulation to speed rehabilitation from injuries.

Every Illinois football player can expect to use the very finest athletic equipment available.

Andy Dixon and his staff make certain that everyone has uniforms and equipment that fit well and are in good repair.

Nike is the exclusive supplier of athletic apparel for the Fighting Illini. Each player receives five new pairs of shoes per season.

There are two styles of helmets that are generally used; athletes may choose whichever style fits and protects them best.

Strength training is essential to success in college football. Illinois has one of the largest and best-equipped weight facilities in the Big Ten. Equipment in the 7,000-square-foot weight room is constantly being upgraded. Head strength coach Jim Zielinski and his assistant supervise players? weight-training sessions, which typically take place four times per week during the off-season, and twice a week during the season.

Athletes are well-recognized for their achievements in the weight room.

Illinois is blessed with top-notch, state-of-the-art practice facilities. This past summer the east practice field was totally redone, with the installation of a brand new sand-soil mixture as well as irrigation and drainage lines beneath the surface, and a mixture of five types of Kentucky Blue Grass in the new sod.
