Illinois-Ohio State Game Notes | Stripe the Stadium Color Map

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illini Nation will be part of a unique and exciting event at the Illinois-Ohio State game on Saturday, when the Stripe the Stadium FanCam comes to Memorial Stadium. The "Stripe the Stadium" atmosphere will be captured by the 5 billion pixel FanCam about halfway through halftime, immediately after the Marching Illini performance. The photo takes 5-7 minutes to capture the entire stadium.

While Illini fans are used to wearing orange to games, we're asking some fans to don blue shirts this Saturday to create the unique orange-and-blue striped visual. Fans seated in the odd-numbered sections and the entire north end zone are asked to wear their usual orange, while fans in the even-numbered sections should wear blue. For reference, view the color-coded Stripe the Stadium below.

The game is a big one for the 16th-ranked Fighting Illini, who are looking to improve to 7-0 on the season when the Buckeyes come to town. The game is schedule to begin at 2:30 p.m. CDT and will be nationally televised by ABC (ESPN in some markets).

The FanCam is a high-definition image of Memorial Stadium in its entirety. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by the end of the Marching Illini halftime performance, when the ultra-high-def, 5 billion pixel, 360-degree image will be taken from the 50-yard line.

Following the game, fans will be able to "step inside" the 360-degree gigapixel image and look around, as if they were standing on the field for a frozen moment of time. The resolution of 5 billion pixels is so high that fans will be able to zoom in to find themselves or friends, "tag" themselves in the photo, and share via email, Facebook and Twitter. Fans can even cruise around Memorial Stadium to see who else was present at the game.

Fans who tag themself will be entered to win tickets and a VIP experience to the Nov. 19 Wisconsin game. Fans that weren't able to make it the game can take part in a competition inside the FanCam for a chance to win tickets and a VIP experience to the Nov. 12 Michigan in addition to other great prizes.

The Stripe the Stadium Fan Cam will be available for viewing on Oct. 16. Check < a href="http://www.fightingillini.com" target="_new">fightingillini.com, the Illini Football Facebook page or the Illini Football Twitter account for updates on exactly when FanCam goes live.

Both Wisconsin and Michigan have used FanCam technology to capture the experience at recent games. See an example of the Camp Randall FanCam at Wisconsin or the Under the Lights FanCam at Michigan.

Tickets for the Ohio State game on October 15, as well remaining home games against Michigan (Nov. 12) and Wisconsin (Nov. 19), are available at fightingIllini.com, by phone at 1-866-Illini-1 or at the Illinois Athletic Ticket Office at Assembly Hall.

Illini fans can purchase orange and blue apparel at one of two Gameday Spirit Champaign locations (519 E. Green St. or 1615 W. Springfield), or online at the Official Fighting Illini Fan Store. Gameday Spirit also operates a merchandise stand on the corner of First Street and Kirby Avenue on football game days.
