Vote For Illinois' 'Pontiac Game Changing Performance' And The Fighting Illini Could Win $5,000
Oct. 6, 2008
Down 14-3 after the first quarter, Illinois scored two quick touchdowns in the second quarter on its way to a 45-20 victory over Michigan Saturday. Running back Daniel Dufrene scored the second touchdown on an electric 57-yard screen pass, giving the Illini the lead and a Pontiac Game Changing Performance nomination. Now it is up to Illinois fans to determine if the Fighting Illini will earn a Pontiac Game Changing Performance for week six of the 2008 season. Illinois fans can go to www.pontiac.com/ncaa, where they can view video clips of the four finalists and vote for the Fighting Illini! Voting began Sunday morning and ends at midnight Wednesday. ESPN will announce this week's Pontiac Game Changing Performance winner on Thursday night, during the Pontiac Performance Halftime Report. The winning university earns a $5,000 contribution from Pontiac to its general scholarship fund. Additionally, the winning play will be nominated for the Pontiac Game Changing Performance of the Year award and the chance to win a $100,000 general scholarship contribution from Pontiac. In addition, each week, one lucky individual who visits pontiac.com/ncaa, will also win a $5,000 scholarship for them self or someone in their family.
"Awarding $1.5 million since its inception, the Pontiac Game Changing Performance program continues to be a great example of how passionate fans can have a positive impact academically and athletically by generating scholarship dollars for university-wide programs," said Rece Davis, ESPN.
