The Henningsens to Headline 10/19 Illini Street Fest
Oct. 1, 2013
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- Arista Nashville country music trio and Atwood, Ill., natives The Henningsens will perform live at Illini Street Fest prior to Illinois' night game against Wisconsin on Oct. 19. Street Fest, presented by County Market, is free to the public and will open at 4 p.m. on First Street between Kirby Avenue and Irwin Drive (map). The Henningsens concert, which is presented by WIXY 100.3, will begin at 5 p.m., two hours before the Illini and Badgers kickoff at 7 p.m.
The Henningsens, consisting of Brian (bass, guitar, vocals) - family patriarch and father of 10 - eldest son, Aaron (guitar, vocals), and daughter, Clara (lead vocals, guitar), have watched as their debut single, "American Beautiful," climbed to the top 30 on Hot Country Songs. They also released their very first EP in May and joined the Brad Paisley 'Beat This Summer' tour, which has put them in front of thousands of country music fans all across the country.
The Henningsens showcase a sound that is fresh, vibrant and uniquely their own, with Clara's expressive and inviting vocals center stage, together with gorgeous family harmonies, compelling songcraft, and vivid storytelling, offering lyrics that paint sometimes traditional themes in non-traditional ways.
There's a heartland theme that runs throughout the music of The Henningsens, which seems only natural for a family from rural Atwood, Ill., where their 1,700-acre farm has offered home and livelihood - and, at times, school, playground and even birthplace - across seven generations.
In addition to the concert, Illini Street Fest will feature several family-friendly, free activities such as inflatable & interactive games and face painting. County Market will be serving FREE Johnsonville brats and the Planters Nutmobile will be on site. In addition, an Illini information booth will be set up for fans to get posters and information about the Illini Kids Club, I Fund and Illinois Athletic teams. Fans who attend the game will enjoy postgame fireworks in the stadium.
